The Netherlands is at the top of the world when we talk about greenhouse horticulture. Sustainable projects are being delivered abroad by Dutch greenhouse builders. The heating system is an essential part of a greenhouse. It regulates temperature and influences cultivation. We specialise in treating heating pipes for the greenhouse horticulture sector.
Our unique paint spray line is located in Poeldijk. We chemically pre-treat the pipes after which a quality brand paint of our own composition is sprayed on them. On location, we treat the pipe with a second layer of paint. Manually, for the best result. In this way, we protect the metal against corrosion. And thus for a longer lifespan of the installation!

4-step process
Proper pre-treatment of the iron can increase the lifespan of the installation.
The pipes come to us untreated and black with grease. We choose to degrease the pipes well first and then phosphate them. This pre-treatment generates an essential adhesive and also corrosion-resistant layer on the pipe. Corrosion can lead to loss of integrity and function of the installation. A good pre-treatment is therefore essential. An additional advantage of chemical pre-treatment is that the pipe is not deformed by mechanical influences.
After the pipes have dried, the fully automated process is followed by applying the first coat of paint. A red or grey primer. Our sprayer leaves the ends of the pipes unpainted so that the pipes can be welded together on site. After this, the welds will also be finished with a coat of paint.
The paints are applied in a climatic environment where there are growing crops and people work. Our paints therefore meet high environmental and sustainability requirements.
The pipes are bundled and ready for transport. The pipes can be collected or we arrange the transport. We have been working with our regular carrier S. van Holstein Transport since 1991.
When the pipes arrive on site, we prefer to see them welded together by the installer as quickly as possible. Pipes are often not stored in a dry environment, allowing moisture to affect the metal, resulting in corrosion. To prevent this, we offer the option of temporarily storing the pipes with us in Poeldijk.
Once the installation has been assembled on site, the second coat of paint will be applied manually. First, we pre-treat the weld seams with a universal mixing paint, our VD Horst Primer. Then we paint the pipes in a white colour, RAL9002, with VD Horst Finish.
This process cannot be automated because every horticultural project is different: pipes vary in diameter and suspension systems differ from one greenhouse to another. To guarantee the quality of the work delivered, we opt for manual painting with the effective paint wash hand.
